Discreet Shipping and Storing Your Sex Toys

Discreet Shipping and Storing Your Sex Toys

Two of the most-asked questions before someone makes their first adult purchase: "What does the package look like when it arrives?" and "Where do I keep this stuff?" Both legitimate, neither well-answered by most retailers. Here's the practical version.

How discreet shipping actually works

If you've never ordered from an adult retailer, here's what to expect from us and from the industry generally.

Plain outer packaging. The parcel arrives in unmarked brown or white satchels, padded mailers, or boxes. No branding. No "From: [adult retailer]" labels. No silhouette of a toy on the side. To anyone glancing at it, it's a parcel.

Discreet sender name. The shipping label uses a generic business name — not "Get Stiffy" — usually something like "GS Trading" or similar. If anyone Googles the sender name, they don't find an adult retailer.

No itemised labels visible externally. The contents description on the customs label or shipping manifest, where one is required, is generic ("personal items," "wellness products," "homewares" — varies by jurisdiction).

Inside the parcel: the products themselves are typically in their original retail packaging, which may be branded. So if someone opens the parcel, they'll see what's inside — but the parcel itself is anonymous.

What's actually visible at delivery

The delivery driver sees an unmarked parcel. Tracking notifications on your phone, if you're using courier apps, will show the discreet sender name. Anyone with access to your post but not your phone — flatmates, family, building reception — sees nothing identifiable.

If you're really concerned about a specific person seeing the parcel: use a parcel locker (Australia Post has them at most LPOs and various standalone locations), have it delivered to your work, or pick up from the post office.

Receiving the parcel — the practical bit

Order at a sensible time. Most adult parcels in Australia ship within 1–3 business days and arrive within 2–7 business days depending on your state. If you're going to be away when it arrives, plan for that — an unmarked parcel sitting on your front step for a week is the only awkward scenario.

If you live in a shared house: the boring strategy is just to be the one who collects the post that week.

If something goes wrong (parcel lost, damaged, wrong item) — adult retailer customer service is genuinely no different from any other online retailer. You're a customer, not a confession. Email, sort it out, no awkwardness on either side.

Storing your gear: the practical version

Your toys live somewhere. Where they live affects how long they last, how hygienic they stay, and whether someone walks in on them.

Bedside drawer. The classic. Easy to access, out of sight when closed. Lining the drawer with a clean cloth and storing each toy in its own bag protects against scratches and material reactions. Avoid storing toys loose in a drawer with other items — silicone reacts with some materials over time.

Lockable storage box. If you live with anyone who shouldn't be opening drawers, a lockable storage box (made for purpose, or any small lockable container) under the bed or in a wardrobe is the cleaner solution. Some adult-specific storage cases come with charcoal filters and lockable lids.

Original packaging. Most quality toys come with their own storage bag (silk, velvet, or cotton drawstring). Use it. Brand bags are designed to keep the toy clean and prevent material reactions. If yours didn't come with one, a clean cotton drawstring bag works fine.

Material storage rules

Different materials need different storage approaches. Full breakdown in the cleaning and care guide, but the headlines:

Silicone toys can react with each other if touching for long periods, especially if they're different grades. Store each silicone toy in its own bag.

TPE and Cyberskin need refreshing powder (cornstarch-based) before storage to prevent the surface getting tacky. Store in a breathable bag, not airtight plastic.

Glass and metal are inert — store however, but use a soft bag to prevent scratching.

Leather needs to breathe. Don't store in plastic or airtight containers. A cotton bag or open shelf is fine. Avoid direct sunlight.

Electronics (vibrators, prostate massagers, pumps). Store with a small charge, not fully drained. Lithium batteries last longer if not stored at zero. Disconnect from charging cables when stored.

The "what if I die" question (more useful than morbid)

Worth thinking about, especially if you live alone. If something happens to you, someone you love is going to clear out your belongings. Some people find a frank acknowledgement of this — and a designated "clear this drawer first, no questions" arrangement with a trusted friend — preferable to leaving the discovery to a parent or sibling.

Or: lockable storage. Anyone clearing out your stuff who finds a locked box without a key just throws it out. Problem solved.

Not the cheeriest section in the guide, but it's practical and people don't talk about it.

Travel

Adult toys are legal in essentially every Western country to bring with you, in checked or carry-on luggage. Battery rules — lithium batteries (most rechargeable toys) need to be in carry-on, not checked. Pump-style toys with manual pumps can go in either.

If TSA or customs opens your bag and finds a toy, they will not say anything. They've seen all of it. Move on.

For long-haul travel, take the lock-disable feature on chastity devices and remote vibrators seriously — being unable to remove a device while travelling is a genuinely bad scenario.

What we ship and how

Get Stiffy ships from within Australia in plain unmarked satchels. Tracking is provided. Sender name is generic. We don't put anything identifying on the outside of the parcel. Returns and customer service are handled like any normal e-commerce shop — politely, professionally, no awkwardness.
